Primary School (8-11yrs) – deaf and hard of hearing

Come and connect with other 8-11 yr. old’s that are deaf or hard of hearing for some ice breaker games and cooking and then join activities in the park and meet younger and older deaf and hard of hearing children and their families. Parents welcome to attend the Friday session to connect with other families.

Goals

  • Deaf identity – connecting with others who are deaf or hard of hearing in a fun and supportive environment
  • Meeting new friends, practising greeting, listening to others, and co-operatively working as part of a group
  • Self-advocacy –learning to identify challenges in communication in different environments and specific strategies to begin to manage these more independently
  • Device management – an opportunity to explore how to explain your hearing loss and devices to others and independently manage your device needs both indoors and out.

Thursday 21/01 – 1.30 pm- 3.30 pm – Frankston clinic

Friday 22/01 – 1.30 -3.30 pm – George Pentland Gardens

4-hour program held over 2 days (2 hrs per day) $360
